Frequently Asked Questions

1

HOW LONG, OR SHORT, SHOULD MY HAIR BE FOR WAXING?

The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for best results, about the size of a grain of rice. This is usually about 2.5 -3 weeks' worth of hair growth. If you have coarse hair, it should be closer to 1/2-inch for the first few waxes.

2

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD DO BEFORE MY WAXING APPOINTMENT?

  • Refrain from taking a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.

  • Make sure the hair is the appropriate length for waxing.

  • Exfoliate the day before

  • Take a Tylenol or ibuprofen 30 minutes before appointment time for pain, if necessary.

  • Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine.

  • There are certain medications and products that should not be taken or used if you plan to have a waxing treatment soon. Topical exfoliants used on the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and topical/oral cortisone make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication.

3

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR ANY OF THE WAXINGS?

We wax clients of all ages, however, if you are younger than 18 we do require a parent to accompany you and sign our waxing consent form. The only services that you must be 17 years of age or older are for the Brazilian and Cheeky waxes.

4

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY FIRST WAXING TREATMENT?

Hair-free Luminously Bare skin! Everyone’s skin reacts differently to waxing treatments, but you can expect to have temporary redness and minor irritation for up to 48 hours. Slight itchiness may be experienced as the hair grows out. Proper post-wax care will alleviate these symptoms quickly.

5

CAN I SHAVE BETWEEN WAXING APPOINTMENTS?

No. Please do not shave between waxing appointments. It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment.

Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, when you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse.

6

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A WAX?

Anywhere from every 2-6 weeks depending on your hair growth and the area you are getting waxed. This is usually the right amount of time to have the hair at the right length and will also allow the skin to be less sensitive to treatments. For our female clients: we recommend avoiding treatment around that time of the month: your skin will be more sensitive 5 days before and after.

7

IT'S THAT TIME OF THE MONTH, CAN I STILL GET WAXED?

Yes. You can still get a wax if your period arrives before or the day of your appointment. We require that a tampon is worn during the service. Please note that your skin will be more sensitive during this time.

8

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE MY APPOINTMENT?

It's ok. We understand that things happen in life or sometimes we just forget.  Our cancellation policy: You will not be charged if you cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment starts. Otherwise, you will be charged 50% of service price for late cancellations and 100% for no shows.
